Neck, Back and Spinal Problems
80% of people will suffer from back pain. Our Chartered Physiotherapist can help treat it.
Statistics show that back pain is on the rise, even among the young. Sedentary lifestyles, poor posture and inappropriate work practices all combine to increase your risk.
Symptoms of back pain may range from muscle ache to shooting or stabbing pain, limited flexibility and reduced range of motion, an inability to stand straight, hip and leg pain, or numbness and/or pins and needles.
Back pain can be frightening and debilitating, but don’t worry. With the assistance of your GP and a Chartered Physiotherapist, the vast majority of back pain is treatable. At Physiotherapy Works, we will assess the level of your back pain , investigate the root causes and provide an appropriate treatment.
What can I do to help my own healing?
Where possible, try to maintain a healthy weight. Those few extra pounds may be aggravating musculoskeletal or joint pain. A healthy spine may be become gradually tilted or stressed to support extra weight around the waist, for example.
Behavioural changes such as adopting correct sitting posture, especially when using a keyboard, can make a big difference. Learning how to lift heavy objects – keeping the heavy object close to the body and using the legs to lift while keeping the back straight – can also give you relief. We’ll teach you simple, practical steps to take in your everyday life.
Exercise – Our Chartered Physiotherapists teach simple, achievable exercises, with results so good, you’ll look forward to doing them!
